Swarnali Mahmood is a soil scientist with her research interests in soil health and soil carbon dynamics. She received her Ph.D. in Soil and Water Sciences from the University of Florida. Her dissertation focused on soil health assessment and interpretation from plot to continental scales.
Her current work as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Florida builds upon this expertise to develop data-driven models for understanding how soil health, weather variability, and management practices influence crop productivity and resilience in Integrated Crop-Livestock Systems (ICLS). The project combines biophysical modeling to compare ICLS with conventional farming systems under different environmental and management scenarios, helping quantify yield stability, profitability, and production risk. Ultimately, the work aims to create science-based decision-support tools that guide farmers and stakeholders toward more resilient and sustainable agricultural systems.
