Ioannis Moutsinas is an agricultural engineer, researcher, and Fulbright Scholar whose work focuses on the integration of digital technologies into modern agricultural systems. He holds a degree in Agricultural Sciences from the University of Thessaly and a master’s degree in Biosystems Engineering from Wageningen University & Research.
Since 2016, he has worked with the Networks Implementation Testbed Laboratory (NITLab) at the University of Thessaly as an agricultural engineer, project manager, and Ph.D. candidate. His research spans precision agriculture, climate-smart agriculture, remote sensing, sensor networks, Internet of Things technologies, and decision-support systems designed to improve agricultural production and resource management.
His broader research goal is to advance the digital transformation of agriculture by connecting field observations, sensing technologies, and data-driven decision tools. While working with the Soil AI Lab as a Fulbright Scholar, he is interested in developing and validating lightweight edge‑deployable hyperspectral vision models that estimate canopy‑level nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium in citrus orchards under realistic illumination and management conditions.
